November SUV sales: Model Y sold 44,000 units a month, and this "domestic product" won the fuel sales crown.
Just entering the middle of December, the sales volume in November arrived as scheduled. The retail sales volume in the domestic auto market reached 2.424 million vehicles, up by 16.6% and 7.2% respectively from the same period of last month, among which the sales volume in SUV market was 1.201 million vehicles, which was still the market segment with the highest proportion. At the same time, it still showed a strong growth momentum, up by 19.6% and 6.0% respectively from the same period of last month. From the performance of various models, the SUV market structure is changing, the proportion of new energy SUVs is higher than that of fuel, Tesla continues to win the first place, and the fuel SUV has won the first place, and the overall ranking has risen to the third place.
Tesla Model Y was the biggest winner in the SUV market in November, ranking first with sales of 44,576 units, leading the second-place PLUS by nearly 20,000 units. Compared with the same period of last year, the sales volume of Model Y decreased by 10.63%, but increased by 23.12% month-on-month. The year-on-year decline was due to the increase of competitors, while the month-on-month increase was more proof of the gold content of Model Y, which was excellent in both brand influence and product strength. Of course, the growth of Model Y is also due to the recent price reduction and preferential policies, coupled with the recent announcement of free battery replacement for some old cars. A series of measures have stimulated consumers’ enthusiasm for car purchase.
Under the strong leadership of Tesla Model Y, independent brands BYD and Geely also showed strong competitiveness. Among them, BYD PLUS ranked second with the sales volume of 26,400 vehicles. The new car has a reliable three-electric system and high cost performance, which has won the favor of consumers. In addition to Yuan PLUS, BYD Song L DM, Song PLUS DM, Yuan UP and Song Pro DM have also entered the top 15, on the one hand, the general trend of electrification, on the other hand, BYD’s first-Mover advantage and technical strength, etc., and have achieved good results in various market segments.
BYD Yuan PLUS won the new energy SUV sales crown of its own brand, while Geely Xingyue L was the best-selling fuel SUV sales crown, with 24,667 vehicles sold in November. The appearance of the new car is young and sporty, and the interior is a rare model with three large screens at the same price. As for the core three parts, there are 1.5T and 2.0T options, of which the 2.0T version is equipped with Volvo engine and Aixin 8AT, which leads the same level in driving experience, and therefore stands out in the fuel SUV market. In addition to Geely Xingyue L, Changan CS75 PLUS and Tiggo 8 are also on the list. These independent brand models have successfully occupied a place in the SUV market with their excellent quality, rich configuration and reasonable price strategy.
At the same time, the joint venture brand SUV is also facing increasing competitive pressure. Although joint-venture brand SUVs including Toyota RAV4 Rongfang, Toyota Corolla Ruifang, Volkswagen Tiguan L and Honda CR-V still maintain a high sales level, they have entered the top 15 SUV rankings, but the overall ranking is lower, and the best-selling RAV4 Rongfang is only ranked 10th, and it is also the only joint-venture SUV model with sales volume exceeding 20,000.
In addition to the frustration of ordinary joint venture brand SUV, the performance of luxury joint venture brand SUV is also poor. Even though a large discount has been given recently, no model has entered the top 20. From the list, there are also models with an average price of over 250,000, but they all come from independent brands, namely Ideal L6 and Wenjie M9, with sales of 24,318 and 16,409 respectively in November. This is mainly due to the rise of self-owned brand SUV and the change of consumers’ concept of car purchase. More and more consumers begin to pay attention to cost performance and personalized needs, and self-owned brand SUV just meets these needs.
Judging from the SUV sales ranking in November, the competition is fierce, and the top 15 models and rankings are changing. What remains unchanged is that new energy vehicles have maintained a strong growth momentum. With the continuous progress of new energy vehicle technology and the improvement of charging facilities, the share of new energy vehicles in the SUV market will gradually increase. From the brand point of view, independent brands have performed amazingly in the SUV market, accounting for more than joint ventures. In the latest catalogue of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, there is already a large wave of independent heavy new cars ready to go. It is foreseeable that the next SUV market will remain strong, but the competition will also intensify. However, for consumers, there are indeed more good choices, and according to the current competitive situation, the price estimate will also have surprises.
