The above-mentioned insiders said that the power battery system, as a system with a very close combination of hardware body and control system, can be roughly divided into battery Pack test and battery management system (BMS) test. But even if all the tests are passed, there is no guarantee that the power battery will be completely free from problems.

Wang Zidong believes that bad habits such as charging the vehicle immediately after parking and charging the vehicle with fast charging piles for a long time may be the causes of spontaneous combustion of electric vehicles.

It is understood that when an electric vehicle uses a non-compliant charging pile, the charging pile may output a large current that the lithium battery can’t bear. Inside the battery, the charging speed is too fast, which will cause lithium ions to form dendrites like branches on the surface of the negative electrode. These dendrites are as thin and hard as a needle tip. When the dendrites grow to a certain length, they will puncture the diaphragm and induce internal short circuit, which will lead to spontaneous combustion.
