In Shanghai, the birthplace of the workers’ movement, the first cross-regional cooperation alliance of workers’ sports venues in China was unveiled.

Shanghai is the starting point for the Communist Party of China (CPC) to lead the workers’ movement and the cradle of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions. On August 11th, 1921, the Secretariat of China Labor Union was established in Shanghai, which was the first public organ established by the Communist Party of China (CPC) to lead the national workers’ movement. How to further tap the red resources in Shanghai and even revitalize the theme resources of the national workers’ movement and inherit the red cultural genes?

A few days ago, the "Cooperation Alliance of National Labor Movement Undertakings, Important Sites and Memorial Halls of Labor Movement Figures" was established in Shanghai. Representatives from 19 labor movement memorial venues from Beijing, Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Sichuan and Shanghai gathered in Shanghai, the initial source of China’s labor movement undertakings, to witness the unveiling of the first cross-regional, standardized and comprehensive labor movement theme venue cooperation alliance in China at the Maritime Cultural Center, and held the first symposium after the establishment of the alliance.

According to the big data of Shanghai Museum’s operation in 2018, the enthusiasm for visiting red revolutionary museums continued to rise last year. The 30 revolutionary museums in Shanghai received a total of about 9.467 million visitors, a year-on-year increase of 132%. However, the exhibition hall of the former site of the Secretary Department of China Labor Union, which has undergone protective renovation and exhibition promotion, reopened to the public on October 1st, attracting many citizens to "punch in".

In the industry’s view, the establishment of the first cross-regional, standardized and comprehensive sports theme venue cooperation alliance in China is just the right time, which will further inherit and carry forward the glorious tradition of the working class and trade unions in China and tell the story of the working class in China and the trade unions in China. After the alliance is established, it will serve as a powerful link for cooperation and exchange among sports theme venues, helping sports theme venues distributed all over the country to connect with each other in a cooperative and shared way, thus forming a red resource network around the history of China sports, and fully revitalizing the national sports theme red resources.

Wang Yongxi, a teaching and research consultant and professor of China Institute of Labor Relations, Huang Rujun, secretary-general of the Chinese Communist Party History Society and researcher of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Institute of Party History and Literature, and Zheng Qingsheng, former director of the Workers’ Movement History Research Office of the Institute of History of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, were employed as alliance consultants.

As the first general organization in the Communist Party of China (CPC) to openly lead the national workers’ movement, the Secretary Department of China Labor Union, established in 1921, set off the workers’ movements that carved monuments again and again nearly a hundred years ago, leading the working class to fight for their own rights and interests, leaving a deep impression in the history of the workers’ movement.

据悉，中国劳动组合书记部旧址于1959年5月被上海市人民委员会列为市级文物保护单位。1992年9月，恢复中国劳动组合书记部旧址，并建立陈列馆向社会开放。2005年5月31日中国劳动组合书记部旧址陈列馆经第二次修缮后再次对外开放，至今已逾十多年，建筑本体已受到不同程度的损坏。此次修缮，从成都北路893弄1-7号扩大至成都北路893弄1-11号，新增的两间石库门原汁原味地保留原有石库门建筑格局。整体建筑在“修旧如旧”文物保护原则下，进一步提升建筑质量，既展示上海石库门建筑的历史风貌，呼应“从石库门到天安门”的理念。

纪念馆工作人员走访了北京、湖南、武汉、济南、广州五个中国劳动组合书记部的分布所在地的28家纪念馆，共征集相关史料近千件，从中甄选152项珍贵史料成为新增展项。展品中囊括了中国共产党的第一份党刊《共产党》月刊，该刊曾在全国秘密发行，总共只发行过六期，存世极少，陈列馆藏有全六期实物，可谓镇馆之宝。
